 TROPICALS and SUCCULENTS

Including many unusual  and rare variegates)

Agave americana variegata

A stunning, and large growing Agave with wide pale yellow margins and random streaking throughout.

Fairly rapid growing and offsets freely when kept in a tight pot.

Wonderful addition to anyone's succulent collection for both it's structural and aesthetic beauty.

(5" pot 7.00)

Agave parryi

This blue-green Agave is of a small to medium sized grower.

Unique in it's extremely broad and short, sandpapery  leaves, forming more of a rosette, than the typical tall spikey form.

Wonderful little Agave for the collector.

(4" pot $7.00)

Alpina formosa

More commonly known as "Pinstripe Ginger", for it's perfectly symmetrical white lines on each leaf.

Invaluable, as a knock out foliage plant with some height.

Can be grown outside in a site that offers a bit of shade in the hottest part of the day, as the leaves will burn if there is too much strong sun, especially in the southern states.

Here, in good old frigid Upstate NY, we must bring this treasure indoors as soon as nigh time temps. start to dip below 50 degrees. But, it does do beautifully as a potted house-plant with a good sunny window.

5" pot $8.00

Cestrum noctornum

This Night Blooming Jasmine can not be beat when it comes to intensity of fragrance.

It blooms about 3-4 times a year for me, if kept well fed, and just fills the entire house with the sweet, heady aroma that makes me feel like I'm vacationing on a Tropical Island.

Throw away those room deodorizers and grow this unusual gem, instead!

(5" pot)  $7.00

Cryptanthus "Zebra"

Thick, intensely striped leaves, almost look unreal.

This is my favorite of all the Crypts I grow, and fast growing. Will set off many pups from a mature plant.

Needs a very loose, well draining potting mix, and just a bit of sun.

2" Pot $5.00

Ctenanthe lubbersiana tricolor

This lovely tropical Ginger relative is also known as "Apache Feather".

Easily reaching 3-4 feet in height, even grown indoors in a pot.

(5" pot $7.00)

Euphorbia "Firesticks"

Also known as tricolor Pencil Cactus.

This is a rapid growing succulent with stunning, vibrant color and such an unusual form.

Very happy in a sunny window with a fast draining potting medium.

(4"pot)  $5.00

Gasteria X Little Warty Variegated

This rare succulent has got to be the most surreal plant I've ever come across.

Not only does it fabulous form, but the thick bumpy texture feels more like hard plastic than it does a live plant. Added bonus, and what makes it so hard to come across, is this one's random linear bands of palest green, (sometimes almost white), running down individual leaves.

A must have for any collector of Gasteria!

3" pot $8.00

Hibiscus variegata

What more can one ask for, than the large, silky ostentatious bloom of a Hibiscus? Why, variegated foliage, of course!

Leaves are randomly splashed, streaked and freckled with cream over dark green, adding a tinge of pink when outdoors in full sun. This is one knock-out of a plant, when in full bloom.

Easily trained to tree form, and kept to manageable size with regular pruning.

Likes a lot of sun and an evenly moist soil.

3" pot $7.00

Kalanchoe beauverdii

A black Kalanchoe, with long, smooth, narrow leaves.

The more sun it receives, the deeper black it becomes.

Fast grower that appreciates a bit of top pruning to keep it neat and bushy.

4" pot $8.00

Kalanchoe "Creamed Scallops"

Good strong grower, that gets more variegated with age. Doesn't always stick to the white margin pattern. I have some that branch out to almost all white.

Such a gorgeous foliage plant, one might not even care if it ever produced a single flower!

4" Pot $6.00

Kalanchoe hybrida tri-color

The most colorful Kalanchoe you've ever seen, even with out any blooms!

The leaves are predominantly green with white margins top side, but with intense pink blush. Plantlets along the edges rarely take root, as 90% of them will be all white, lacking the necessary chlorophyll to survive.

The more sun it gets, the more pink tones you'll see.

Rare and beautiful.

4" pot $8.00

Kaempferia pulchrum

This low growing little beauty is also known as "Peacock Ginger". With it's light green, feathery pattern, atop the almost black backround, it's easy to see where this one gets it's nickname.

Likes a bit of shade, if planted outdoors, and a rich, evenly moist soil.

Wonderful little potted plant for the sunroom, too!

4" pot $ 6.00

Ledebouria socialis

Very strange but wonderful little plant that colonizes rapidly.

I love the leopard spotted, pale green leaves, which contrast so intensely.

Must have the "bulb" planted above the soil surface, and very well draining soil.

Very easy plant to coax into a big healthy potful!

3" pot $5.00

Monstera "Cerre Verde"

A small leaf type Monstera with the most gorgeous silver patterned overlay.

Prefers to ramble about the ground, but will climb with training.

Rare but easy to  grow in filtered light and a rich, well drained soil.

5" pot $8.00

Opuntia vulgaris mon. "Maverick"

This variegated Opuntia is a real novelty. No two pads will have the same cream/green pattern of variegation. Some of the pads will even end up all white on one side.

Very easy to grow on any sunny windowsill with a dry, well draining soil.

3" pot $5.00

Philodendron camposportoanum

A lovely small leaf Philo with red backed leaves and hint of red topside.

I love the shape of the foliage on this one.

Will climb with training, but prefers to ramble about the ground.

Fast growing and easy!

5" pot $7.00

Philodendron "Red Emerald"

A really lovely dark green, thick leaved Philo with intense red petioles and undersides to leaves. New leaves also have red hue, turning dark green with maturity..

Fast grower that loves to climb.

Easy in filtered light and fast draining soil.

6"pot $10.00

Red Pineapple

Sorry, Don't know the Latin on this or exact specie name.

Member of the Bromiliad family, producing small "Ornamental" pineapples for bloom.

Most spectacular, though is the deep red strap leaves, which intensify with more light.

Very easy to grow with moderate light and super as draining potting medium.

5" pot $8.00

Sansevaria trifasciata "Bantel's Sensation"

You will never see a "Mother-in-law's-tounge" as pretty as this!

Strongly contrasting white on dark green, randomly striped and banded.

Loose potting medium and water only when completely dried out. Grows best with a sunny spot.

4" Pot $7.00

Schlumbergera bridesii Yellow

Don't let the fancy name scare you. This is simply a YELLOW Christmas Cactus.

Rare colored bloom, but no more difficult to grow than it's common pink relatives.

A sunny window indoors, or shade out of doors, well draining potting medium, kept slightly dry, and this plant will flourish!

4" pot $7.00

Synadenium grantii "Rubra"

Also known as "African Milk Bush", This red variegated form is one stunning foliage plant.

Fast growing and can be trained as a topiary, eventually forming an impressive little "tree".

Likes sun and a fast draining potting mix. Very easy to grow.

(4" pot)  $6.00

Syngonium "Neon Pink"

And, Man! Is this one PINK!

Wonderful apple green edges and underside to the leaf, with intense pink topside.

Very vigorous grower, that likes to climb.

5" pot $7.00

Syngonium podophyllum white variegation

GORGEOUS variegation on this one!

Varying depths of green with white splashes, streaks and freckling.

This one needs to climb.

5" pot $7.00

Syngonium tri-lobed white patterned

(Specie Unknown)

A gorgeous "eared" Syngonium with bright white central patterning to the leaf.

Loves to climb, and a good strong grower.

5" pot $7.00

Syngonium tri-parted monster

Another unknown specie that gets monstrous sized leaves, very large/thick vine, and grows like crazy.

Appreciates a totem or tree to clamber up.

6" pot 10.00

Tradescantias-Variegated assortment

A mixture of unusual, and very beautiful variegated Wandering Jews.

All like evenly moist, well draining soil and a sunny window.

4" pot $6.00

Tradescantia "Maiden Blush"

This is one gorgeous foliage plant. So much so, who needs the bloom?

Newly emerging leaves emerge a pink-blushed white and get even more spectacular, the more sun it receives.

Fast growing, rare and choice.

(4" pot)  $6.00
